Flowers and condolences

It’s so hard sometimes to know what to say to comfort those we love. We get asked for advice on the matter all the time… personally I think all you can do is send your love. People word it all kinds of ways – but the act of sending flowers at all is enough.

We all have dark days, but flowers are a lovely way to show people the light at the end.

Here’s a particularly lovely one that we sent out yesterday. We really hope that it helped a little.

It seems to be a total split down the middle as regards to colour and types of flowers. Some people go with lots of bright colour, others go with whites and greens. There’s no rule to be broken, or anything that could be innappropriate – so go with whatever you feel.

It’s the thought that counts.

Fall into Hallowe’en

Fall brings a whole new world here at Celsia – a world of pumpkins, wheat, vintage hydrangea….Gorgeous tones of burnt orange and burgundy. We love it.
Take a look at what 2 of our lucky customers were surprised with today!

We’ve also got the cutest mini pumpkins – so we’ve been having fun carving away. They’re only a dollar each, $3 if they’re pre-carved. Get some halloween chic in your home! (Although be careful with candles, I accidentally cooked the lid of mine last night! Burn with the lids off folks!)

And while you’re popping down to stock up on pumpkins, check out our new window displays – they’re fabulously fall – lanterns, fall wreaths and branches – oh my!

All the best things come in threes!

Three is the magic number in our world – from single stems, to giant arrangements. The number of pins in a brides bouquet to the number of posies in our display - three always guarantees to make things more beautiful.

Take these little cuties, on their own they’re adorable but as a 3 they’re a full-blown swoon.

So try it at home – revel in the wonder of threes!

The calm after the storm… but what a storm!

Well folks, we are officially in the midst of wedding season. Which, for a florist is wonderful news! This year we have been, (and will be! Watch this space…) lucky enough to design for some truly unique and fabulous brides. From vintage garden to fantasy, and from tea-parties to peacocks, we’ve got it all.

Below are some of the sneaky pictures we’ve snapped along the way – check on www.celsiaflorist.com for those perfect photos coming soon though!

So today has been about sun-dresses, making the display outside super gorgeous for those lucky people strolling down the beach, listening to soul music and blogging.

See you next week for our latest lovelies!

cherry brandy.

Bouquets I made recently for a wedding. The brides often come in to buy each other single stems of these vibrant Cherry Brandy roses. It was really lovely putting together their wedding bouquets using their favourite flowers.

update.

Phew! The holiday season is upon us, oh my. Between the mad rush at the shop and hand making all my gifts this year, I’ve let the blog writing slip a little and for that, I apologize. I am hoping to have many lovely, festive photos up for you soon. We have the most incredible product in right now; tons of different evergreens, branches, four different kinds of eucalyptus (!), some gorgeous pepperberry, and peppermint amaryllis.

I’ve made so many wreaths, garlands, and centerpieces, I’m beginning to think my hands will be permanently cedar-scented.

(I took this one home with me).

candy canes and silver lanes aglow.

I’m one of those people whose love of Christmas is bordering on unhealthy. I’ve been drinking eggnog since October, secretly listening to Sufjan Stevens’ 6 volume Songs for Christmas for the past 3 weeks, and drawing up schematics for the shop’s holiday decorations in my sleep.

The wreath class is one week away! It’s the perfect opportunity to catch my infectious holiday spirit. Go visit Little Garden Studio for more info.
