Daaayyaaamn….Weddings Galore!

This wedding season to me personally, was by far my absolute favourite! I can’t be grateful enough for all the wonderful brides we got to work with this summer. I’m glad we have a tiny break from the craziness of the wedding season, but I am more than stoked for 2012!

On another note….one of my fav brides of this last season just emailed me the other day with some FANTASTIC photos of her wedding.

She definitely out did herself when I had asked her if she could possibly send me a few shots that were more or less “wedding flower” themed from her big day!

I really had a blast with this bride and she was such a treat to have as a client. I went a little out of my way for her and collected a few unique garden bloom varieties from the gardens around Kitsilano that give the public the chance to plant what they want and cut/pick stems out of the gardens whenever they please!

I just looove our neighbourhood :)

Everybody say ‘ooohh’, everybody say ‘ahhhh’ – repeat as necessary.

I have a couple of little treats to share with you all today.

Sometimes, when brides are just lovely lovely lovely ladies – they send me photos of their big day, and the gorgeous flowers we made for them. 3 of my just SO lovely brides from last summer sent me some fabulous photos this week…. here they are!

First, Natalia… such a unique vision and just a pleasure to work with. Here’s what she had to say -

“We got a ZILLION compliments on the amazing flowers… I was just blown away how it all came together and you truly captured my vision and expanded upon it incredibly. I have never ever seen more beautiful arrangements in my life, and it meant so much that they would be a part of MY wedding. So thank you, thank you, a thousand times over!!”

So many beautful elements, dahlia, scabiosa pods and flowers, peonies, thistle, millet, chocolate lace, seeded eucalyptus, lisianthus, astrantum, hydrangea and garden roses. Swoon!
Next is Jennie, what a sweetheart and a trooper! She battled through having her arm in a cast until literally days before the wedding – wow. We made a gorgeous soft bouquet for her that worked perfectly with their aesthetic. She said ;
“Here are a couple photos from the wedding that really show the bouquet.  Thanks again – it was wonderful!”

This was a cute and compact bouquet of dahlias in palest pink and cream, soft pink garden roses and white freesia. Lovely.
And finally Chelsea. When Chelsea first came in, she had the theme – the board game ‘Clue’ – FUN! But wasn’t sure how to incorporate the flowers into that. Each bridesmaid, as in the game, had their own signature colour. So we went for a complimentary colour for each of them, with a big glorious mix for Chelsea herself. Take a peek, it’s a jaw dropper!

Lush mixtures of hydrangea, mokara orchids (Col Mustard), purple lisianthus (Prof Plum), blue delphinium (Ms Peacock), red peony (Miss Scarlet), mini green hydrangea (Rev Green), kermit mums and craspedia. Fabulous.

Flowers and condolences

It’s so hard sometimes to know what to say to comfort those we love. We get asked for advice on the matter all the time… personally I think all you can do is send your love. People word it all kinds of ways – but the act of sending flowers at all is enough.

We all have dark days, but flowers are a lovely way to show people the light at the end.

Here’s a particularly lovely one that we sent out yesterday. We really hope that it helped a little.

It seems to be a total split down the middle as regards to colour and types of flowers. Some people go with lots of bright colour, others go with whites and greens. There’s no rule to be broken, or anything that could be innappropriate – so go with whatever you feel.

It’s the thought that counts.
